An off-duty officer fired shots after being held at gunpoint and robbed in Long Beach on Sunday, police said.
The incident happened near Bixby Road and Orange Avenue at around 1:30 p.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police say preliminary information indicated a person approached the officer and pointed an apparent firearm at him while another person robbed him.
The officer then shot toward the suspects, who ran away and have not been taken into custody, the LBPD said. It’s unclear if the suspects were struck.
Officials said the officer was not injured.
