The New Mexico Goatheads are officially on the board. On Thursday, the team announced the signing of forward Grant Ahcan. Ahcan becomes the first player in franchise history.

The 24-year-old from Minnesota played four years at St. Cloud State University, where he served as captain for the 2025-26 season, scoring four goals and five assists.
“Grant Ahcan embodies everything we want the New Mexico Goatheads to represent,” said Head Coach Zack Stortini. “He is an outstanding leader, an exceptional teammate, and someone who competes the right way every day.
Following his college career, Grant signed with the Iowa Heartlanders, making his debut late in the 2025-26 season, earning an invitation to the Colorado Avalanche Development Camp.
The Goatheads’ inaugural season begins on October 16th at The Rio Rancho Event Center.
