The Boston Red Sox silenced the home crowd at Citi Field on Saturday, shutting out the New York Mets by a final score of 4-0 to claim a convincing road victory in Queens.
Boston’s offense did enough damage to support what turned out to be an airtight performance on the mound, holding the Mets completely off the scoreboard through nine innings. The shutout loss was a tough result for New York, who were unable to generate any offense in front of their home fans.
The Red Sox controlled the contest from start to finish, leaving Citi Field with a clean 4-0 victory and handing the Mets a frustrating afternoon in which they could not find an answer at the plate.
