Ten South Florida high school students, including four from Palm Beach County schools, received $20,000 scholarships from Florida Power & Light (FPL) at the Manatee Lagoon in West Palm Beach. The students were honored for their achievements in science, engineering, communication, mathematics, and enrichment.
Scholarship Winners
The winners attended the event with their families and mentors. Honored from Palm Beach County were Martell Mincey of Pahokee Middle Senior High School, Hannah Wong and Aidan Burtoft of Suncoast Community High School, and Leslie Cruz of Glades Central Community High School.
Two students from Broward County also received scholarships: Anjan Kumar Sangam of Blanche Ely High School and Lynn-Sinthia Louis of Highlands Christian Academy High School. The four Miami-Dade students who received scholarships were Devaughn Henry and Zion Clark of American Senior High School, Mike Dorsainvil of Miami Norland High School, and Gabriel Diaz of Barbara Goleman High School.
According to FPL, the program reflects their ongoing commitment to STEM education, workforce development, and investing in the next generation of leaders and innovators.
