The estate spans roughly 160 acres, with about 65 planted to vine, and it operates according to biodynamic farming principles — meaning the land is treated as a living system rather than a production floor. Large windows frame views of the vineyard blocks — each one named after a woman important to the winery’s history, including Louise, Jessie, Marjorie, and Eileen — and the staff bring a level of knowledge and genuine enthusiasm that makes the experience feel more like a conversation than a transaction. The wines are the main event, of course. Cristom’s single-vineyard Pinot Noirs are the flagship, and they deserve every bit of their reputation — complex, earthy, and deeply expressive of the volcanic and sedimentary soils they come from. But don’t overlook the estate Syrah, which consistently surprises visitors who didn’t expect something that compelling this far north, or the Viognier, which is floral and precise without ever tipping into excess.
