The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office in Shreveport, Louisiana, has partnered with the technology firm SIMSI to analyze spatial data and identify patterns of domestic violence. This new approach aims to support survivors who may be afraid to report abuse to law enforcement.
Building a Support Network
According to Joel Caplan, COO of SIMSI, the goal is to create a ‘village’ around survivors, providing them with access to necessary services and support. The technology will help identify specific environmental settings and repeating patterns where domestic violence tends to occur.
Data collection for the Caddo Parish area is already underway, and hundreds of cities nationwide are using this model. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office hopes that this new technology will help bridge the gap between domestic violence victims and the support they need.
