A local non-profit in Shreveport, Louisiana, is working to ensure young girls in the Caddo foster care system have a safe place to live and grow. Beulah’s Safe Haven has housed approximately 15 young women over the past year, providing a supportive environment for them to heal and thrive.
A Critical Need
The child welfare department is currently facing a severe shortage of certified foster homes for teenage girls, with only 12 available locally. Beulah’s Safe Haven is helping to address this need by providing a residential home and outreach program to support these young women.
Tanya Barnes of Beulah’s Safe Haven emphasized the importance of their mission, stating that these children are the future of the community and deserve support and care. The organization’s outreach program also supports dozens of young women up to age 25 as they navigate the transition out of the foster system.
