Xi stated that China’s commitment to its friendship with North Korea will not change, regardless of how the international situation evolves. The two countries are marking the 65th anniversary of their friendship treaty, which was signed on July 11, 1961.
North Korea’s Premier Pak Thae Song recently visited Beijing to attend an event commemorating the anniversary of the treaty. Xi had also visited Pyongyang last month, where he and Kim agreed to expand cooperation across politics, economy, and culture.
