A downtown development project that took decades in the making kicked off Friday as city officials and business leaders joined for a groundbreaking ceremony in Sioux Falls.
The Switchyard Development
The Switchyard, located on Eighth Street east of the 8th & Railroad Center, is a 4-acre development with three buildings. The structures include a five-story, 60,000-square-foot mixed-use building with offices and two residential buildings holding an estimated 270 units.
The site also includes a parking ramp and an extension of the bike trail. Retail areas are planned on the first floor of the office space. The residential units are planned to be at market rate.
