A rideshare driver in Port St. Lucie, Florida, ended an unruly passenger dispute by driving the customer directly to the front doors of the Port St. Lucie Police Department, resulting in her immediate arrest.
According to police, the driver sought assistance after a passenger in his vehicle began actively inhaling nitrous oxide from a large canister and refused to get out of the car. The driver pulled directly into the parking spaces reserved for the department’s Public Information Officers (PIO) right outside the station doors.
When officers approached the vehicle to investigate the complaint, they saw 37-year-old Pamela Molina actively inhaling, or “huffing,” the nitrous oxide. Police stated that Molina then refused to comply with lawful commands and resisted their initial efforts to safely remove her from the rideshare vehicle.
Officers eventually removed Molina from the car and took her into custody. She was transported to the local jail and officially charged with inhaling nitrous oxide to induce intoxication and resisting an officer without violence.
While department spokespersons noted the irony of the incident taking place in the PIO media parking spots, they emphasized the serious nature of the situation in a statement following the arrest.
“While we can appreciate the irony of where this happened, substance abuse is a serious matter,” the Port St. Lucie Police Department stated. “Our officers are committed to enforcing the law and keeping our community safe!”
