Top Prospects
Cholowsky is considered the consensus top player in the class, with a high floor and a strong all-around game. Emerson, on the other hand, has a high ceiling and a silky smooth swing from the left side of the plate. Lackey is a talented hitter who slashed .397/.519/.722 as part of Georgia Tech’s monster offense this season.
The Minnesota Twins, who hold the third overall pick, are expected to select Lackey if he is still available. The San Francisco Giants, who hold the fifth overall pick, have been linked to several bats in this class, including outfielder Drew Burress.
The draft will feature a number of talented players, including Mississippi outfielder Eric Booth Jr., UC Santa Barbara right-hander Jackson Flora, and Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron. The Kansas City Royals, who hold the seventh overall pick, may select high school arm Gio Rojas if Flora is off the board.
