BMW reported a 4.9% decline in global vehicle deliveries in the second quarter, primarily due to a significant drop in sales in China. The company sold 590,962 vehicles in the quarter.
In China, deliveries plunged 30.2% year-on-year in the second quarter. However, despite global challenges, BMW was able to increase its sales in the USA and Europe. Second-quarter deliveries rose 11.9% in the U.S. and 7.6% in Europe excluding Germany.
Other automotive companies, such as Mercedes-Benz and Porsche AG, also reported declines in second-quarter deliveries of 8% and 16%, respectively, due to intensifying competition in China.
