Evacuees of the Aspen Acres Fire in Pueblo, Colorado, have been without their homes for nearly two weeks. Despite the challenges, the community has come together to support them. Donations of food, water, and blankets have poured in, but some evacuees say it’s the non-physical donations that have really lifted their morale.
Music to Their Ears
A group of musicians from Pueblo County, the Grass Seed Jug Band, visited the evacuation center to perform live music. The band’s music brought smiles to the faces of the evacuees, and even tears to the eyes of one man who spoke with KRDO13. The band’s leader, Elliott Ring, said they will return every Monday morning to perform for the evacuees.
The music has been a welcome distraction for the evacuees, who are still waiting to return to their homes. The band’s performance is a testament to the power of community and the importance of human connection in times of need.
