Fort Dodge senior Terryn Rippentrop, also known as ‘T-Rip,’ has made the most of her opportunity to shine on the softball field. After not being an everyday starter, Rippentrop has transformed into a completely different player, earning the starting role in centerfield and batting .472 for one of the top teams in the state.
A New Opportunity
Indian Hills Community College took notice of Rippentrop’s improvement and offered her a spot on their college softball team. This is a remarkable turn of events, as Rippentrop was not considered good enough to play college ball just a year ago. Her coach, Andi Adams, says a scenario like this is ‘pretty much unheard of.’
Rippentrop’s success has also contributed to the team’s overall performance, with Fort Dodge boasting a 38-4 record and a regular season winning percentage of .900. The team is two wins away from making it back to the State Tournament.
The Dodgers will face MOC-Floyd Valley in the Regional Semifinal on Saturday night. Rippentrop’s journey is an inspiration to her teammates and a testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport.
