A shooting occurred just before midnight on June 30 in the 9400 block of Dunleith in the Wynlakes community of East Montgomery, Alabama.
Details of the Incident
According to court records, a state trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to the scene and found the victim on the front porch with a gunshot wound to the chest. The trooper also found a handgun in the victim’s hand, which he was able to secure.
The state trooper noticed 65-year-old Lynwood O’Mary armed with a rifle. O’Mary went back into the home and refused to come out until the state trooper was able to eventually arrest him.
The victim told an officer with the Montgomery Police Department that he and O’Mary had been involved in a fight when the suspect began to choke him. The victim said he then punched O’Mary in the eye in an effort to get him off of him.
O’Mary has been charged with attempted murder and is currently out on bond. A preliminary hearing is set for August 12.
