Trial Delayed For Woman In Fatal Wrong Way Crash

A trial for a Slater woman charged in a deadly wrong-way crash near Ames has been postponed. Ashley Taylor was scheduled to face a jury later this month, but court filings show her attorney requested a delay due to medical issues affecting Taylor’s family.

The crash happened in May 2025 along Highway 30 near Ames. Taylor is accused of driving intoxicated in the wrong lanes and colliding head-on with another vehicle, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Christian Royston.
