A Volusia County Public Works employee was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday after the equipment they were using came into contact with an energized electrical line, causing a fire in Edgewater, according to the city’s fire chief.
The incident involved two Volusia County Public Works employees, Edgewater Fire Rescue Chief Jeffrey Lariscy told WESH 2 News in a statement. The worker who was hospitalized was airlifted by a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Air One helicopter.
WESH 2 News is working to learn the condition of the worker who was taken to the hospital, as well as further details of the fire.
