A popular mobile game, ‘June’s Journey,’ is on a mission to help recover lost artifacts from the American Revolutionary War. The game has collaborated with historians, museums, and galleries to integrate missing artifacts into the game for a limited period.
Lost Artifacts
Among the items are an 18th-century Battle of Cowpens medal, a coat of arms, a cannon, a military cap with three ostrich feathers, and an embroidered scene. These artifacts have been missing for over 200 years and are now being featured in the game to raise awareness and potentially lead to their recovery.
The game’s developers, Wooga, have partnered with historians like Don Hagist, an author and managing editor of the ‘Journal of the American Revolution,’ to choose which artifacts to include. Hagist believes that incorporating these artifacts into a medium that millions of people will see is a brilliant idea.
How it Works
Players will be challenged to find these artifacts in the game, and anyone who thinks they may have uncovered something will be directed to a dedicated submissions channel. Hagist will review the evidence and consult with experts to authenticate the finds.
The game has a huge audience, with over 50 million downloads on Google Play, and the developers hope to use this platform to educate people about these artifacts and their historical significance.
