Rockies fans are making a statement at Coors Field with their new tradition, ‘tarps off shirts off’. The trend started during the team’s sixth home game of the season in April and has been gaining momentum ever since.
The Movement Gains Momentum
According to Rockies outfielder Jake McCarthy, the first time he saw the trend was during a home game against the Astros. ‘The first time I saw it was a home game was against the Astros. The day game. It’s pretty cool, I think. I think we’re doing pretty well here,’ McCarthy said.
McCarthy also mentioned that he would need a little liquid courage to join in on the fun. ‘Probably need a few drinks, but, yeah, I think it looks, like fun.’ Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer is also a fan of the trend, saying ‘Anything to help us win. I love that we have fans that are enthusiastic and want to do that I love it.’
