An 11-year-old boy, Brodie, lost his right hand in a gator attack while fishing at Nelson’s Fish Camp in Marion County, his family said. The family stated that Brodie was fishing when the attack occurred, explaining that he was bitten by the gator as he tried to release a fish back into the water.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said they later trapped an eight-foot gator believed to be responsible for the attack. The family shared a photo of Brodie taken after he was released from the hospital, showing his arm in a sling.
