On this 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we reflect on the words that started the longest running experiment in history of self-government. America is great because God is good and as the founders of our nation stated: “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
