The Natrona County Board of Commissioners will consider proposals for a commercial storage subdivision, an 80-foot cell tower, and Casper Mountain cabins during their meeting on Wednesday. The meeting will start with work session discussions at 3 p.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the Natrona County Courthouse, followed by general county business and public hearings at 5:30 p.m.
Cell Tower Proposal
Union Wireless is seeking a conditional use permit to build a new 80-foot lattice cell tower at 4100 Blackmore Road. The company claims its existing 50-foot tower cannot withstand the structural load required for an upcoming LTE network equipment upgrade. However, a neighboring landowner has opposed the permit, citing concerns about visual clutter and changes to the rural scenery.
Storage Unit and Cabin Proposals
Trevor and Karenna Penor, alongside Lucas Gooder and Stephanie Miller, are requesting a conditional use permit to build two recreational cabins on 8.65 acres of land located off Ponderosa Road on Casper Mountain. The project initially faced pushback from the Casper-Natrona County Health Department due to plans to use a holding tank and cistern system for gray and black water. The applicants have since abandoned these plans and agreed to use a gasoline-powered incinerating toilet and a permitted outhouse.
Mark and Missy Van Horn are also seeking a replat request for M&M Equipment rental in the Allendale Addition. The request to vacate and replat Blocks 18, 19, and 20 into four lots totaling 10.65 acres for residential development and commercial storage units has drawn opposition from neighbors concerned about light pollution, wildlife displacement, drainage issues, and vacating private streets.
