The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers were shut out by the Peoria Chiefs on Saturday night at Dozer Park, losing 2-0. The Chiefs took the lead in the bottom of the second inning when Ian Petrutz singled, stole second, and went to third on a balk by Jayden Dubanewicz. Cameron Nickens drove in Petrutz with a one-out single.
Strong Start from Dubanewicz
Despite the loss, the Timber Rattlers got a strong start from Jayden Dubanewicz, who worked through the sixth inning and allowed one run on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Dubanewicz earned his first professional quality start and set a professional single-game record for innings pitched.
The Chiefs scored a run without a hit in the bottom of the seventh. Reliever Quinton Low walked Nickens to start the inning and threw three wild pitches, allowing Nickens to score the insurance run. The Timber Rattlers loaded the bases against Jose Davila in the seventh inning and got a lead-off walk issued by Christian Worley in the eighth but could not score.
Series Finale
The series finale at Dozer Park features Josh Knoth as the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers, while the Chiefs are scheduled to send Jacob Odle to the mound. Game time is 2:05pm CDT.
