The retailer made the announcement on July 1, 2026, confirming that the new location will serve the greater San Diego area. The store is slated to open in 2028, according to NBC 7 San Diego.

Bass Pro Shops locations are known for being destinations in their own right — featuring expansive retail floors stocked with hunting, fishing, camping, and outdoor recreation gear, along with immersive nature-themed interiors that draw families and outdoor lovers alike. For San Diego County residents who have long had to travel out of the region for this kind of one-stop outdoor outfitter experience, the new store will be a welcome addition close to home.

The arrival of a mega-format Bass Pro Shops also signals continued retail investment in the San Diego region, bringing with it new jobs and economic activity ahead of its 2028 opening.
