A recent golf trip to northern Michigan was a huge success, with 166 holes of golf played over seven days. The trip included a round at The Bear, a Jack Nicklaus course in Traverse City, which lived up to its reputation as one of the hardest golf courses in the area.
Golf Courses and Resorts
The group played at several golf courses, including The Bear, The Legend, and Garland Golf Resort. The best course was The Bear, which had more bunkers than any course the author had ever seen. The group also enjoyed the party scene at Shanty Creek Resort and Garland Golf Resort.
The author’s biggest issue was chipping, especially on greens that were 50 yards wide. The group had a great time, with no major incidents, and the author is already looking forward to next year’s trip.
Local Golf Trends
One trend that the author noticed on the trip was the increasing number of women who want to ride along on the golf course while their husbands or boyfriends play. Some courses are starting to not allow riders due to cart shortages.
