North Topsail Beach officials are warning visitors to avoid Beach Access #3, at the north end of Topsail Island, due to safety concerns. A woman was rescued from the inlet last week, and a man died last month after jumping into the water to save a child at the same access.
“We’ve seen a lot of people end up in grave danger up there at Beach Access #3,” said North Topsail Beach Police Chief Andrew Page. “Regardless of the conditions, don’t get in the water there. It’s too dangerous.” More signage will be added to the area to warn swimmers to stay away from the inlet, police say.
