The Town of Morrisville hosted its annual ‘Red, White & BOOM’ event, drawing thousands of people to Cedar Fork District Park for fireworks, local vendors, and community festivities.
Heat Safety a Priority
First responders emphasized the importance of staying safe in the extreme heat, with Fire Chief Thomas Dooley noting the dangers of prolonged heat exposure without constant hydration and cooling breaks.
Medical tents, misters, water stations, safety bike patrol, and cooling areas were set up to ensure safety throughout the night. Chief Dooley also mentioned that the town pushed the message of hydration to event staff and vendors days before the event.
Little Halos, a local vendor, was on site offering cold treats, including fresh lemonade and ice cream. Owner Madison Nygard expected a busy night as temperatures climbed.
A fireworks show was set to start after nightfall, around 9 p.m.
