Hoover Mayor Updates on Fourth of July Celebration

As the city of Hoover prepares to celebrate Independence Day, Mayor Nick Derzis encourages everyone to join in the annual Fourth on the First celebration at the Hoover Met Complex. This year’s celebration is especially significant as the nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of America’s founding.

Fourth on the First Celebration

In addition to entertainment, food, and an enhanced fireworks show, the city is partnering with Coca-Cola to attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the most soda cans opened simultaneously before the fireworks begin.

Mayor Derzis also updated residents on the Riverchase Galleria, which is expected to be placed on the market for sale. The mayor believes this represents a significant economic development opportunity for the city and could be the catalyst for transformational change.

Future of the Riverchase Galleria

The city has a clear vision and expectation for the future of the Galleria and Patton Creek, which are critically important commercial assets to the city. However, the city does not own these properties, and the interests of multiple entities must align for any redevelopment.

Future redevelopment should focus on creating destinations that reflect how people live, work, shop, dine, and spend their leisure time today, including opportunities for entertainment, dining, recreation, hospitality, residential, and other mixed-use development.
