A jury in Nashville has convicted former Arkansas State football player Blaise Taylor of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, and her unborn child. Prosecutors say Taylor poisoned Benning’s pink lemonade with cocaine, leading to her death on March 3, 2023.
Background
Taylor, a former team captain and All-Sun Belt team member, called 911 on February 25, 2023, saying he was having an allergic reaction. Benning was rushed to the hospital, unable to speak, and died a week later. Taylor was working as a defensive analyst for the University of Utah at the time of his arrest.
Sentencing in the case is scheduled for September. Taylor had also worked as an NFL scout for the Tennessee Titans after his college football career.
