Medical device maker Zimmer Biomet plans to hire 500 employees over the next three years for its newly opened technology centre in Bengaluru, India.

The hires will span software engineering, product design, research and development, and functions such as quality, regulatory and finance. About two-thirds of the hires will be in technology roles, with the remainder in support functions.
Zimmer Biomet makes orthopedic implants for knee, hip and shoulder replacements, as well as surgical and robotic devices for musculoskeletal conditions. The company wants to drive innovation and bring that back to surgeons, care teams and patients.
The centre will focus heavily on artificial intelligence, with applications spanning robotics, surgical planning and research and development. Zimmer Biomet aims to expand the use of AI in its products and speed up development.
