The department shared images of the K-9s sharing sweet moments with crew members and Venezuelans, describing their presence as an ‘unspoken language of comfort.’ The K-9s’ role goes beyond search and rescue, as they provide a sense of hope and comfort to those in need.
Venezuela’s northern state of La Guaira was struck by back-to-back 7+-magnitude earthquakes on June 24, resulting in over 1,700 deaths. The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived in Venezuela as part of the U.S. Department of State’s Urban Search and Rescue response team, joining other teams from Virginia and Miami-Dade.
