The Great American State Fair, part of the Trump administration’s Freedom250 celebration, is currently being held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The event features food vendors, merchandise, a Ferris wheel, and various activities representing all states.
Low Attendance
Despite its attractions, the fair saw low attendance on Tuesday, with few lines to enter the exhibits and concessions areas being largely unfilled. Some attendees attributed the low turnout to the heat, with temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s.
Pamela Lathrop, a 56-year-old visitor from Florida, said she expected more people to attend as the Fourth of July approaches. Doug Woody, a 66-year-old from Fairfax, noted that the event felt different from a classic state fair but was well-organized.
The fair is separate from America 250, a nonpartisan commission’s celebration of the nation’s semiquincentennial. Not all states are participating in the fair, with some citing costs as a reason for their absence.
