Two individuals climbed to the top of the Empire State Building in New York City to unfurl a large banner urging world peace. The banner, which read “When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace,” was hung from the landmark skyscraper’s antenna spire.
The pair, dressed in sleeveless black outfits, held onto the antenna spire near the glowing red light at its top, some 1,454 feet above the sidewalk of midtown Manhattan. After unfurling the banner, they began to slowly climb down to a slightly lower platform in the antenna structure.
Once they reached the lower platform, one person got down on one knee, and the pair then embraced and appeared to kiss, according to an aerial video feed by a local news network. The New York Police Department stated that the episode was still developing and had no further comment.
