A Shreveport-area student-athlete has made local history, becoming the first player from the region to earn the Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year award for Louisiana, according to The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate.
The Gatorade Player of the Year program is one of the most prestigious high school athletic honors in the country, recognizing outstanding achievement on the field as well as academic excellence and community leadership. Landing the award marks a milestone not just for the young athlete, but for the entire northwest Louisiana soccer community.
The achievement comes at a fitting moment for local sports recognition. Also this week, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association named Shreveport journalist Roy Lang III its 2025 Sports Writer of the Year — a double dose of hometown pride for the Shreveport-Bossier area’s athletic and sports-media scene.
Congratulations to both honorees on representing northwest Louisiana at the highest level.
