Center Robert Williams III has agreed to sign a three-year, $44 million contract extension to return to the Portland Trail Blazers. LIFT Sports Management told ESPN of the extension, which extends through the 2028-29 season.
Williams, 28, averaged 6.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 59 games (one start) this past season with the Trail Blazers. He also shot 70.8% from the floor while coming off the bench as a backup to Donovan Clingan.
Williams was acquired from the Boston Celtics with Malcolm Brogdon in the Jrue Holiday trade on Oct. 1, 2023. A second-team All-NBA Defensive selection after the 2021-22 season, Williams has averaged 7.1 points and 6.9 rebounds in 294 career games (101 starts) with the Celtics and Trail Blazers.
