Christopher Sunami, a Columbus author, has released his first philosophy book, ‘Free Your Mind’, which explores various topics including race, capitalism, and reality. Sunami’s approach to philosophy is rooted in his real-world experiences and conversations with others, including his friend Ernest Levert Jr., who helped establish the local chapter of Black Men Build.
Local Influences
Sunami’s book is inspired by his experiences attending meetings of the Columbus chapter of Black Men Build, where he engaged in deep conversations with other members. He also draws on his childhood memories of visiting Baba Obadina’s East Side art gallery, which smelled of sandalwood, a scent that he associates with comfort and familiarity.
Sunami’s philosophy is centered around the idea that solutions to complex problems can be found by thinking differently and approaching issues with a fresh perspective. He believes that philosophy can help provide solutions to societal issues such as poverty and war, and that it is essential to have a strong vision of where we are going and why.
Book Release
Sunami will celebrate the release of ‘Free Your Mind’ in conversation at Clintonville Books on Wednesday, July 1. The book is a series of debates between fictionalized characters attending a meeting of the Secret Society of Builders, an imaginary group loosely inspired by Black Men Build.
