Harmony House, Springfield’s domestic violence shelter, has named a new executive director. Kirstyn Walker, a Missouri State University alum, was promoted after becoming Harmony House’s assistant executive director in July 2025.
Walker’s Experience and Vision
Walker has experience in victim services and trauma-informed practices. She previously worked with Burrell Behavioral Health and a rape crisis center. “The work Harmony House does to serve survivors of domestic violence impacts our community in such a meaningful way, and I am beyond honored to be entrusted to lead this organization,” Walker stated.
The board of directors for Harmony House began to search for a new executive director after Jared Alexander announced that he was stepping away from the role in April. The nonprofit is honoring its 50th anniversary this year. More than 21,000 people have been served by the shelter since it opened its doors.
