A federal grand jury in Manhattan has issued subpoenas as part of a major Department of Justice investigation into alleged financial crimes by Neville Roy Singham, a China-based tech tycoon who has used his massive personal fortune to fund a sprawling web of socialist, communist, and Marxist organizations across the United States over the last ten years.
Investigation Details
The probe, authorized by Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche, is being led by U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton for the Southern District of New York. The grand jury is examining the movement of money through Singham’s financial network, which includes a Goldman Sachs philanthropy fund and two shell corporations.
Prosecutors have presented evidence to the grand jury to determine if Singham, his funded organizations, or their leadership committed bank fraud, wire fraud, or money laundering. The grand jury has used subpoenas to compel the production of bank records and financial documents from various groups tied to the tycoon.
Connections to High-Level Government Officials
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent traveled to New York City earlier this year to meet privately with Goldman Sachs Chairman and CEO David Solomon, warning him that Goldman Sachs could face legal scrutiny for an alleged conspiracy in moving Singham’s money.
Singham’s status as a major political financier grew rapidly after his 2017 marriage to Jodie Evans, the co-founder of the far-left activist group Code Pink. Singham has openly championed a ‘new world order’ led by Chinese President Xi Jinping and labeled the United States a ‘fascist’ nation.
