Lizzo’s Career Struggles

Lizzo, the popular singer known for her full-on embrace of self-love and body positivity, has been facing a tough time in her career lately. Her latest album, titled “Bitch,” has reportedly streamed under a million times on Spotify within the first 24 hours of its release and sold fewer than 3,000 copies in its first week.

Accusations and Lawsuit

In 2023, three dancers filed a lawsuit against Lizzo, accusing her of sexual harassment, body shaming, and creating a hostile workplace. Lizzo has denied the allegations, calling them “false” and “as unbelievable as they sound.” Her attorney, Melissa Glass, stated that the claims have no basis in reality and that 18 witnesses, including most of the other dancers on ‘The Special Tour,’ have refuted the allegations.

The lawsuit has been ongoing, with both sides trading briefs and appeals. Last year, a judge threw out the accusations of body shaming, ruling that events like the nude show outings were protected free speech as part of the creative process.

Impact on Career

Lizzo’s career has been impacted by the lawsuit and the subsequent accusations. Many fans were taken aback by the lawsuit, and the singer took breaks from social media. When she re-emerged in 2024, she was slimmer but still happy to show off her body.

Lizzo has also spoken out about the impact of the algorithm-based way social media functions, stating that it is destroying the music industry. She has appeared to push back on haters, saying that she is not afraid of the truth coming out and is continuing to fight.
