Cargill Park BMX in Shreveport, Louisiana, recently hosted a regional qualifying race, drawing hundreds of riders, families, and spectators to the city. The event, which marked the first time in four years the park has hosted the qualifier, provided a boost for local hotels, restaurants, and other businesses.
Family-Friendly Atmosphere
Volunteer Hanna Frey noted that the sport’s family atmosphere is one of its biggest draws, with everyone in the family able to participate and encourage each other. One young competitor expressed his enthusiasm for the sport, saying his favorite part is pushing himself to race hard and hopes to eventually compete around the world.
The top finishers earned plaques and qualified for the Gold Cup Finals in Dallas this September. Organizers hope to continue bringing major regional events back to Shreveport in the future, highlighting the city’s recreational attractions and supporting the local economy.
