A South Carolina restaurateur is being hailed as a good Samaritan after he helped return $12,000 found in a sunglasses case to the store’s former proprietor.
The Discovery
Sak Yiengjuntuek, who owns Lemongrass Vietnamese Pho & Thai Cuisine in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, found the stash of cash earlier this month while cleaning out an old cabinet that had been left behind by the previous owner.
Yiengjuntuek says he was shocked when he opened the sunglasses case and found it filled with $100 bills. He immediately knew the money belonged to the previous owner and attempted to contact him to return the funds.
Returning the Money
After some difficulty reaching the former owner due to a disconnected phone number, Yiengjuntuek was finally able to get in touch and return the $12,000. The former owner was reportedly dealing with a serious and costly health battle, making the returned money particularly timely.
Yiengjuntuek’s actions have been recognized by the community, with people approaching him to express their appreciation for his honesty. He hopes his actions will inspire others to do the right thing and not give up on honesty.
