Two Arizona assistant coaches have received well-deserved promotions. Women’s tennis’ Jamie Schroer has been promoted to associate head coach, and track and field’s Gabriel Mvumvure has also been named associate head coach.
Women’s Tennis Promotion
Jamie Schroer has spent the last four seasons on the Arizona staff, including the last three as an assistant coach. Schroer is credited with guiding several Wildcats to All-Big 12 honors. Last season, Arizona reached a national ranking of No. 26, the program’s highest since 2012.
Head coach Ryan Stotland praised Schroer, saying she has been a ‘wonderful addition’ to the program. ‘Her knowledge combined with her intelligence and her caring and compassionate nature make her the best fit for any program, and we are lucky to have her,’ Stotland said.
Track and Field Promotion
Gabriel Mvumvure led the Arizona sprinters group, which set several school records this season. Three of Mvumvure’s athletes earned All-American honors, including Mason Lawyer, who finished in the top nine in the men’s 100m dash and 200m dash at NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Head coach Andrew Dubs announced Mvumvure’s promotion, saying, ‘Coach Gabu has had a tremendous and immediate impact on not just our sprints group but the entire program.’ Dubs praised Mvumvure’s leadership and outgoing personality, saying he is able to relate and connect across all event groups.
