The State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) voted unanimously to investigate a complaint regarding primary petition paperwork that recently went missing from the Hamden Registrar of Voters office. The SEEC’s vote comes nearly two weeks after Hamden Mayor Adam Sendroff first reported the missing petition sheets on June 14.

Sendroff filed an official SEEC complaint on June 16, which stated that Deputy Democratic Registrar of Voters Bernadette Strode reported the missing petition sheets on June 13. The petitions in question were for incumbent Hamden Democratic Registrar of Voters Lushonda Howard, who sought to petition her way onto the Aug. 11 primary ballot to challenge party-endorsed candidate Jackie James-Boyd.
The SEEC also voted to investigate another unrelated complaint, File 2026-067, regarding the petitioning process for a referendum to repeal a town ordinance on leaf blowers in New Canaan.
