NATCHITOCHES — The City of Natchitoches announced several traffic changes and road closures ahead of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Weekend festivities. Front Street, from Church Street to St. Denis Street, will close to all vehicles at noon in preparation for the VIP Taste of Tailgating event.
The gathering takes place at Mama’s Oyster House/Blues Room and Papa’s Bar and Grill. Officials plan to reopen Front Street as soon as the event wraps up.
Additional closures are scheduled for later in the evening to accommodate a 9:25 p.m. fireworks show during the Rockin’ Riverfest event on the downtown riverbank. The following areas will close to traffic at 9 p.m.: Church Street bridge and Williams Avenue, from Whitfield Avenue to Henry Avenue.
The bridge and surrounding roadways will reopen after the fireworks display is over and the Fire Marshal issues an all-clear. Drivers should also note that the Downtown Riverbank area is closed to all vehicular traffic for the entire day.
