An anonymous sender has come forward claiming to possess video evidence identifying those responsible for the alleged kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.
Investigation Ongoing
The email, which was first reported by TMZ, claims the sender has access to a cellphone containing a short video showing Nancy Guthrie alongside one of the alleged kidnappers on what the writer describes as “probably her last” day. The claims have not been independently verified by law enforcement.
According to TMZ, the anonymous sender wrote that the phone also contains photographs, names, addresses, and ages of two people allegedly involved in the case. The sender claims the phone is hidden in a secure but accessible location and says they would provide the password in exchange for a payment to a newly created Bitcoin wallet.
The individual also denied involvement in a recent anonymous tip that prompted authorities and volunteers to search for a possible burial site in Mexico.
Family Plea
Savannah Guthrie addressed the investigation during the June 23 broadcast of Today, making an emotional appeal for anyone with information to contact authorities. “Somebody knows something… We are in agony. We cannot be in peace.”
Guthrie also thanked viewers for their support and urged anyone with credible information to come forward as investigators continue working to determine what happened to her mother.
