Duke Energy Foundation has awarded its final round of grants, totaling more than $260,000, in honor of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The grants were awarded to 14 organizations across South Carolina that plan to share state and local history through projects, public exhibits, educational programming or field trips.
Supporting Local Communities
“As we plan to celebrate this milestone anniversary in our country, it’s essential to recognize that history is local, personal and still making an impact on our communities,” said Tim Pearson, president of Duke Energy South Carolina. “We are proud to support our communities in bringing those stories forward in a way that helps invite people to learn, reflect and connect.”
The grant recipients include organizations focused on sharing state and local history. The first round of grants for Duke Energy Foundation’s America250 Initiative was awarded in April to organizations focused on parks and green space revitalization, tree planting, trail maintenance and litter prevention. In May, the foundation distributed the second round of grants to nonprofits providing workforce development for veterans.
In total, the foundation awarded $550,000 to South Carolina organizations through its America250 initiative.
