Dillas Quesadillas in Shreveport, Louisiana, is launching its third annual heat-relief donation campaign to support local veterans. Every time the temperature reaches 100 degrees this summer, the restaurant will donate $100 to Cover 6 Outdoors Bayou Edition, a nonprofit organization providing non-traditional therapy for veterans through outdoor activities like hunting and fishing trips.
Supporting Veterans
The donations will provide critical opportunities for veterans to participate in stress-relief and suicide-prevention efforts. Rich Childers, a representative with the Louisiana chapter of Cover 6 Outdoors, noted that the activities serve as a vital support system for former service members, targeting a national statistic where an estimated 22 veterans are lost to suicide each day.
