DMACC athletics, a Division II junior college in Boone, Iowa, has seen significant success in the past year. A total of 11 out of 13 programs made it to their sports national tournaments, with the softball team having its best year ever, winning its regional championship for the 12th year in a row and making it to the national championship, where they finished as the runner-up.
Team Achievements
The men’s cross country team also achieved the national runner-up, while the men’s basketball team went 20-0 in the regular season and broke the school record for wins in a season with a 33-3 overall record. Coaching-wise, former DMACC baseball head coach Dan Fitzgerald was named the National Division I coach of the year while taking the Kansas J-Hawks to the Super Regional.
DMACC’s success can be attributed to its strong programs and coaching. The college’s athletic director, BJ McGinn, stated that the two-year school sends 4 out of 5 student athletes to play at a four-year school, demonstrating the college’s commitment to helping its students achieve their athletic and academic goals.
