Residents from across Shreveport gathered at Airport Park Community Center to learn about the city’s 2026 Action Plan, which outlines how $3 million in federal housing funds will be allocated. The City of Shreveport’s Department of Community Development hosted the public meeting, where residents could share their thoughts on the city’s top priorities.
HUD Funding Allocation
The proposed funding allocation includes approximately $1.9 million through the Community Development Block Grant program, $822,000 through the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, and $171,000 through the Emergency Solutions Grant program. The funding will support efforts to reduce blight, address homelessness, and establish an emergency support center.
Residents participated in a question-and-answer session, asking city officials about grant opportunities and how funding could address concerns in their neighborhoods. Ruby Small, a Shreveport resident, appreciated the opportunity for residents to speak directly with city leaders.
The Department of Community Development will host another public meeting to gather additional public input before the plan is finalized.
