Lisa Catalano, a 42-year-old California woman, has found love after launching a billboard campaign to find a husband. Catalano, a graduate of Salinas High School in Salinas, California, had grown frustrated with traditional dating methods and decided to take a more unconventional approach.
A Unique Approach to Dating
Catalano launched a website, marrylisa.com, and advertised it on billboards in the Bay Area, from San Francisco to Santa Clara, California. The campaign generated significant attention, with Catalano receiving roughly 4,000 applications between September 2025 and May 2026. Although she did not meet her boyfriend directly through the billboard campaign or her website, Catalano believes that the experience played a crucial role in leading her to her current relationship.
Catalano’s website allowed her to clearly outline her values, goals, and non-negotiables, serving as a more effective filter for compatibility than traditional dating profiles. She contacted 20 local men and went on first dates with five of them, while also continuing to use dating apps and directing matches to her website to assess compatibility.
A Successful Outcome
In January, Catalano matched with a man on a dating app who had also seen one of her billboards. The connection eventually turned into a relationship, with the couple going on 19 dates over three and a half months before becoming exclusive. Catalano has announced on her website that she is now in a relationship with a Bay Area man who shares her values and meets her standards.
Catalano’s campaign was not without its challenges, including facing speculation that she was seeking attention or fame. However, she remains grateful for the outcome, stating that she does not regret the effort and expense, which totaled $4,746. Catalano’s story serves as a testament to the power of creative problem-solving and perseverance in the pursuit of love and happiness.
